There are four basic types of uniforms regularly worn by Emperor's Hammer
Officers. Which uniform is worn depends on the type of duty or occasion.

Combat Pilot Uniform
The uniform of a combat pilot is thoroughly utilitarian. The only marks
of distinction are the rank insignia and position badges. This is the
uniform worn while on combat missions in single seater fighter craft.

The duty uniform is that which is worn while on regular duty aboard ship,
on stations and at other Imperial Navy and Hammer facilities. It is the
standard everyday uniform of all Emperor's Hammer officers.

The standard dress uniform is most often worn by officers while attending
non-military affairs on off-duty hours. This uniform is considered proper
for light social occasions, dinner engagements and so on.
Side arms are usually frowned upon during such occasions, and only the
Dark Jedi will usually be seen armed with their ever-present light saber.
Decorations are limited to ribbons, and it is considered poor taste to
wear full medals with the exception of the Medal of Honour, for which the
full medal is allowed.

Such uniforms would be worn on very special occasions, such as the Grand
Admiral's birthday celebration, or during a reception for a foreign
dignitary.
The lapels on uniforms of
Admirals
or above, may be worn either turned down or buttoned to the neck.
Medals
are displayed in full, and Second Echelon Merits, are worn about the neck.
Side arms are not permitted on occasions in which this uniform would be
worn. However, members of the Dark Brotherhood who are of the rank of Dark
Jedi Knight or above, are permitted to carry their light sabers at all
times. This reflects the depth of trust that the Grand
Admiral has in the Brotherhood. Of course the Grand
Admiral retains the option of suspending that privilege without prior
notice, and for any reason.
